NSU Nursing Department Celebrates World Heart Day 2026 with “Don’t Miss a Beat”
The Department of Nursing, Netaji Subhas University (NSU), Jamshedpur, celebrated World Heart Day 2026 under the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat”, focusing on cardiovascular health awareness, heart disease prevention, and timely response to cardiac emergencies.
The programme was graced by Dr. A. A. Khan, Cardiologist, NSMCH, Adityapur, who interacted with nursing students and highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, preventing cardiovascular diseases, and understanding the risk factors associated with heart-related conditions.
A major highlight of the celebration was an engaging CPR awareness skit performed by nursing students, demonstrating the importance of immediate action during cardiac emergencies. A Poster Presentation Competition was also organised, encouraging students to creatively communicate important heart-health messages. The best three posters were recognised and awarded for their creativity and awareness initiatives.
To make learning more interactive, students participated in PowerPoint-based games and educational activities on the topic “How to Keep Your Heart Healthy.” These activities promoted awareness of healthy dietary habits, regular physical activity, and preventive measures for maintaining cardiovascular health.
As part of the community outreach initiative, nursing students provided basic heart-health education to patients attending the Outpatient Department (OPD) at NSMCH. The awareness sessions focused on healthy lifestyle practices and measures to reduce the risk of heart disease. Additionally, basic health screenings, including blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygen saturation (SpO₂), and random blood sugar (RBS), were conducted for the university’s senior dignitaries, emphasising the importance of regular health monitoring and preventive healthcare.
The programme was guided and executed by Mr. Goutam and Ms. Ritushree, with active participation from faculty members and nursing students. The celebration successfully integrated health education, creative learning, practical demonstrations, and community outreach to reinforce the importance of cardiovascular health.
Through this initiative, Netaji Subhas University reaffirmed its commitment to health awareness, preventive healthcare, and community well-being, encouraging everyone to make informed lifestyle choices for a healthier heart.
